WriFri Feature: Lucy Willow
Updated: 1 day ago
Welcome to the return of WriFri!
Each week, I feature other writers and their work through Live-reads on my author Facebook page!
On one hand, it's just a fun way of sharing other wonderfully creative people I know. If you like what you hear and read, support them! Read, review, like, share, and follow them! On the other hand, it's also just a nice chance to get cozy, grab a favorite drink, and have a little good 'ol fashioned story time!
Last week on WriFri, I featured my friend, Lucy Willow. She's a writer and poetess from Germany!
If you missed last week's live, here's a link to it. In addition to the live reads, I also feature them in my blog on my author site (where you now are!). Every guest answers two simple questions:
How did you first start writing?
and Why do you love it?
If you or someone you know is interested in being featured, just reach out to me.
And now, without further a-do, here is Lucy Willow:
How did you first start writing?
"I first started writing during my professional retraining, a time in my life when I was also learning to feel comfortable embracing my true self. Having supportive people around me, who eventually became wonderful friends, helped me find the courage to express who I really am. Writing gradually became a way for me to explore my thoughts, emotions, and experiences, turning things that were sometimes difficult to put into words into something meaningful."
Why do you love it?
"What I love most about writing is the freedom it gives me to express myself in countless different ways and to connect with others through the stories and emotions I share. Through my words, I want to remind people that even in the darkest moments, when everything seems hopeless, a small spark of light can still survive. Sometimes, that tiny spark is all we need to keep going, and if my writing can help even one person feel seen, understood, or a little less alone, then every word is worth writing."
About Lucy:
Lucy Willow was born on October 16, 2001, in Uelzen, Germany.
She writes primarily sapphic sports fiction and dystopian stories, weaving together love, heartbreak, resilience, and the fight to remain true to oneself. Her stories explore relationships that defy expectations, characters who challenge the worlds they live in, and the fragile hope that survives even in the darkest circumstances. Her dystopian fiction draws heavy inspiration from the band Starset, blending atmospheric science fiction with emotional depth and unsettling visions of humanity's future.
